Corberán: “It was a win born from faith and commitment”
The Valencia CF coach analyses the win over Deportivo Alavés
Hugo Duro talked to VCF Media after scoring the winning goal against Deportivo Alavés.
The main protagonist
I think there isn't just one protagonist today, it's the whole team: those who started, those who came on, and those who didn't play... that's why when I scored I went over to them. Many of them aren't having a good time not playing, but they're still there supporting, not sulking, working hard... that's what makes a team. I think those of us who played the most should be very grateful to them, and that's the image I'll take away from today.
A very tough match
It was a very difficult and tough match, right up to the end. The team, as always, gave their all, and today we got the reward of the victory. Today is the time for euphoria, but tomorrow it's back to work to prepare for the match against Oviedo.
The penalty
I thought it was clear. Pacheco didn't let go of me at any point, even when I was shooting. I saw it as a clear penalty. I thought maybe the referee hesitated because it was the last minute, but for me it was clear. It was a long wait, I was breathing calmly, and I stepped up very relaxed for the penalty. I’m happy that I converted it.
His special celebration with Diego López and Ramazani
With Diego it was because he's always watching golf on his phone, and it cracks me up when I see him doing that, so we imitated it. We haven't been playing much in the last two or three games, so this is a goal for those of us who haven't been getting much playing time lately and have to wait our turn. The team are winning, we're happy, and we're trying to do our bit. I have a good relationship with Ramazani; we're always laughing together, and he found it funny, like everything I do.
Keeping working
It was a very important win. Today is the day to celebrate, then we’ll rest, and focus on next Saturday's game, in which we want to keep winning and keep moving up the table. There are many games left, and we want to achieve great things -and that comes with hard work, composure, and keeping moving forward.
